There is also the S-Video connection, such as that on my Dell Latitude Notebook, which makes it possible to provide output to a TV or other display media.

Advice on Choosing Computer Peripherals

Some peripherals can cost more than your computer nowadays. For example, this Sony PremierPro SDM-P232W/B 23" UXGA 1920x1200 Charcoal Black LCD Monitor costs more than my Dell Latitude Laptop.

You have to weigh the features you need against how much you are willing to spend. If protecting your vision is of extreme concern to you, then spending more than $2000 on a monitor is cheap enough.

Personally, I do not pay to use the new technology before everyone else does. The prices of computer peripherals and all electronic gadgets fall very quickly in this technologically active market.
