Custom Build Computer - A Better Option for Later Upgrading
Why the custom build computer option? Well, a custom built
PC makes a better option if you plan to do an
upgrade later. This just makes more sense - I'll show you.
Have you ever had one of those name brand computers that
goes bad. You hear a sound like the hard drive going bad and you think of
opening the box, when...
There is a sticker (label) grinning tauntingly at you
that says, "Warranty Void if Opened". You can't even open your own stuff!
That only happened to me once. Why?
The custom build computer route is the way I have
been going for the past 6+ years. Parts of my PC such as the modem and
floppy drive have been recycled several times.
When you buy a Dell, HP or a Compaq system, you are
better off going back to the manufacturer sometimes. In fact, they "force"
you to come back to buy again from them.
And you pay more! Hey, you are carrying the big name.
But think of these benefits of getting a PC customized
and built just for you.
Custom Build Computer - Some Benefits
(a) You can choose the parts more appropriate to your
need. If you are a gamer, for example, you would select a graphics card
from a world of choices instead of a one-type-fits-all brand from a
ready-made PC.
(b) You are more knowledgeable about your computer since
you chose the computer parts.
(c) You can avoid the burden of extra hardware and
software resources hogging your processor time and memory resources by
selecting only what you need. Also...
(d) You enjoy the option of building or upgrading
incrementally. You may start off with one HD then add a second for extra
storage later.
(e) It is easier to find parts for upgrading a custom
built computer than for a popular name brand machine. Often the
manufacturer of name brand uses proprietary parts.
(f) You can avoid some of the aesthetic trappings and
focus on quality parts on the market.
Custom Build Computer - Some Shortcomings
There are some drawbacks to getting your PC custom built
though. Some of these considerations include the following:-
(a) missing out on some of the package deals available
especially on special sales,
(b) having to buy your own software - even though some of the software
bundled programs are not good for more than 30 days!
(c) There's no technical support, should you have a problem... even though
you still will avoid the long wait and the talking to machines whenever
you try to get them.
However, if you can build
your own computer, and trust me, this is not that difficult for the
average person who will decide to invest a bit of patience, you can make
yourself a great deal in a customized system.
My recommendation would be to
custom build your computer from a barebones system. You can find nice
deals on different barebones options.
