Which Motherboard is Best For
You? The motherboard or main board of the computer
has grown to be more compact and more integrated over the years.
There are quite a few popular brands such as:
- MSI main board by Micro-Star International
- Gigabyte
- Asus
- Abit
There are many other brands, too. And these are not in any order of
preference. To make a selection based on motherboard quality or
performance is a technical issue. Moreover, the technology is very
dynamic and it is best to read some of the technical reviews from testers
who actually perform comparative lab tests. When it comes to
determining which motherboard is best for me, I use the technical reviews
and user reviews on the item. Technical reviews such as found at
Tom's Hardware, TechTV,
and PCStats help you
make good decision on choosing components for your computer.
Sometimes when I try to find a motherboard for a new PC, the technical
reviews can be too time consuming to read and compare - especially when
you want to make a quick decision. In that case I usually go mainly
by customer reviews. You can see what's popular and what's really hot from
customer reviews. Both the satisfied and the disgruntled customer will
speak up. You will also find out where you can get the best online
bargains and customer service as well. Personally, I like Asus and
Gigabyte motherboards. My last system, which at the time of this writing
is just a few months old, is built on a Gigabyte mobo. It carries an
Athlon XP 2200+ processor. It's quite a well-featured dual BIOS system
that can support RAID disk storage. These Gigabyte motherboards
allow you to overclock your system harmlessly through the BIOS. You will
find it a great experience to build a
computer on Gigabyte technology.
