safe?
When I ask some of my friends if they do regular spyware removal and tune up on their computer, many of them ask me what is spyware.
Definition: Simply, spyware is any program or code placed on
your computer usually under the following conditions: Complex Problem: Like computer viruses, spyware is a serious problem. Why? The crooks that set spyware on your computer can steal your personal information. This can result in identity theft, spam, stealing of credit card numbers, passwords, or other important personal information. Don't panic though... The fact that you're reading this means you are empowering yourself to have the protection you need. Spyware removal alone is not a good solution. It is like taking an asprin to remove the pain BUT the problem that caused the pain may still be there. You need both preventative and curative measures. I recommend both measures to effectively fight spyware. There is no 100% protection against anything. Every computer on the Net is prone to spyware infection. The well tuned and protected computers have less chance of being affected. Here are some questions on "best practices" that I have found to work. Those popups are themselves spyware in most cases! Take action! There are many free programs that will remove spyware from your machine. Some are mentioned here on another page. But you need to guard the door - prevention is better than cure. It's a tough job being the police or watchman over what comes in and goes out of your computer while you are on the Internet - most of this stuff is invisible! There

removal and prevention tools, when used in combination. These are

To really be on top of things, make sure your data is secure. That is, backup your hard drive using a good program - one that you can set it and forget it. Of all the tools I have looked at and tried, none seem more valuable for this type of job than WinTasks 5 Professional, WinBackup, and SpeedUpMyPC - all available in one package that costs about $80 or $90. How good is this suite of tools? Well, not only does it remove spyware, tuneup my computer, and do a reliable automatic backup... I can find out about any of the hidden processes running on my computer anytime AND stop them if I need to.
Spyware removal and control need strong medicine, and you've got to face it... ...some utilities like
WinTasks and SpeedUpMyPC for spyware removal and control are simply better
than the rest put together - just like some medicines are to our health!
